OOCL's revenue up 3.6% in 1Q
Orient Overseas (International) Ltd. on Friday announced unaudited operational results for its Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) subsidiary for the first quarter of 2013.
OOCL had revenue of $1.36 billion in the quarter, 3.6 percent more than in the same 2012 period. Container volumes in the first quarter were 1,241,454 TEUs, down 0.3 percent from the same 2012 period.
The company noted “with an increase of 2.9 percent in loadable capacity, the overall load factor was 2.3 percent lower than the same period in 2012. Overall average revenue per TEU improved by 3.9 percent compared to the first quarter of last year.”
By trade lane, OOCL had the following results in the first quarter when compared to the first quarter of 2012:
- Transpacific - $478,611, up 5.7 percent on a 0.5 percent increase in volume to 308,149 TEUs.
- Asia-Europe - $262,474, up 19.8 percent on a 2.1 percent increase in volume to 206,759 TEUs.
- Transatlantic - $149,688, down 14.1 percent on an 11.5 percent decrease in volume to 95,130 TEUs.
- Intra-Asia/Australasia - $473,593, up 0.5 percent on a 0.5 percent increase in volume to 631,416 TEUs. - Chris Dupin
