Maersk said it will impose a general rate increase on cargo moving between Northern Europe and the United States on April 1.
Eastbound, from the United States to Northern Europe, the increase for dry containers will be $200 for 20-foot containers, and $300 for 40-foot, 40-foot high cube and 45-foot high cube boxes.
Westbound, from North Europe to the U.S. East and Gulf coasts, the amount of the increase will be the same: $200 for 20-foot containers, and $300 for 40-foot, 40-foot high cube and 45 foot high cube boxes. But on cargo moving from Northern Europe to the U.S. West Coast, the increase will be higher at $400 for 20-foot containers, and $500 for 40-foot, 40-foot high cube and 45 foot high cube boxes.
Maersk is also hiking rates on cargo moving between the United States and Mediterranean destinations
