Long Beach volume surges in October

   Container volume at the Port of Long Beach shot up 8.7 percent year-on-year in October, surpassing the neighboring Port of Los Angeles’ 0.8 percent growth for the month.    The growth is due in some part to the poor volume Long Beach saw in October 2011, when throughput fell 20.5 percent from October 2010.    Import volume grew 15.2 percent in October to 276,698 TEUs, while export volume fell 12.8 percent to 133,503 TEUs.
