LATAM Airlines Group, the parent company of LAN Cargo, has been fined C$975,000 ($934,000) after pleading guilty to air cargo price fixing.
LATAM is the ninth carrier to plead guilty in Canada’s ongoing investigation, which has so far generated C$25 million. Cathay Pacific, Air France, Martinair, KLM, British Airways, Qantas, Korean Air and Cargolux have also pleaded guilty to price fixing conspiracies, a violation of Canada’s Competition Act.
The carrier conspired to fix fuel surcharges on routes between Canada and South American, among other destinations, between 2003 and 2006. - Jon Ross
