The Jacksonville Port Authority board voted unanimously on Wednesday to select Roy Schleicher as interim chief executive officer.
Schleicher has served as Jaxport’s executive vice president
since 2011 following 10 years leading the port’s international cargo
marketing efforts. He has more than 40 years of maritime industry experience. The board also initiated the process to hire an executive search firm to identify candidates to permanently fill the CEO job.
Schleicher fills the vacancy created by the departure of CEO A. Paul Anderson, who has become the new port director and CEO of the Port of Tampa.
On Tuesday, the Tampa Port Authority board voted unanimously to hire Anderson, who succeeds Richard Wainio, who led the Florida port since March 2005.
Anderson's 30-year career included a five-year stint as a commissioner at the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission. - Chris Dupin
