Harold J. Daggett, president of the International Longshoremen's Association, will meet with members of the union in the Port of Hampton Roads Monday evening in Norfolk, Va.
ILA members rejected a local contract by a vote of 520 to 483 on Aug. 12.
A notice on the ILA Website said members from the Port of Hampton Roads will have a venue to express their comments and issues relating to the still unresolved local contract negotiations there.
Joining the ILA leader at these meetings will be Benny Holland Jr., ILA executive vice president; Stephen Knott, ILA general vice president; Dennis Daggett, president of the Atlantic Coast District; and James Stolpinski, secretary-treasurer of the Atlantic Coast District. Thomas Little, international vice president, and Larry Bachtell, Atlantic Coast District vice president from the Port of Hampton Roads will also participate at the meeting.
Little said union members in the Hampton Roads area have concerns about several issues, including manning and gang sizes. - Chris Dupin
