The global container terminal operator International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) has won a bid to design, build and operate a general cargo terminal in Puerto Cortes, Honduras, the company said Monday.
The 30-year deal will see ICTSI build and operate a 1.8-million-TEU container terminal, with 1,100 meters of berth for container operations and 400 meters for general cargo. The terminal will have 14 meters of draft (with provision to deepen it to 15 meters), and 12 ship-to-shore cranes.
A timeline for completion was not yet available. Financial terms of the bid were also not disclosed.
Manila-based ICTSI is a developer and operator of niche terminals, with 27 terminals and port projects in 19 countries, including the T-6 terminal in Oregon's Port of Portland. Its flagship facility is in Manila. - Eric Johnson
