Hapag-Lloyd said its Med Canada Service (MCA) will resume calls at Lisbon.
In October an eastbound call at the Portuguese capital was added to the service’s itinerary. Shortly thereafter calls were suspended due to labor strike actions in Lisbon.
The company said the strike has been called off and eastbound calls at Lisbon will restart with the arrival of the Mississauga Express,
expected to arrive in Lisbon on Jan. 13.
Rotation of the service is Montreal, Lisbon, Algeciras, Valencia, Cagliari, Salerno, Livorno, Genoa, Fos, Algeciras, Lisbon, and Montreal.
Hapag-Lloyd said the change will improve the transit time from Montreal to Portugal to nine days and will provide new opportunities for exports from Lisbon.
Connections to other Mediterranean destinations, West Africa, the Far East, India, the Middle East and North America are offered via Hapag-Lloyd’s hub ports at Algeciras and Cagliari as well as Valencia. - Chris Dupin
