Horizon Lines said that Samuel Woodward has resigned as president and chief executive officer and will be replaced by Steven Rubin.
Rubin has served as a director of Horizon since November 2011 and currently is a principal of the InterPro Advisory LLC, a consulting practice serving the intermodal industry.
From 2008-2011, Rubin was president and chief executive officer of TRAC Intermodal, North America’s largest chassis leasing company. Prior to joining TRAC, he spent 17 years at "K” Line in a number of roles for North American operations. In 2011, he served as chairman of the board of directors of the Intermodal Association of North America.
Rolf Habben Jansen, who has been a member of the
Hapag-Lloyd AG's executive board since April 1, has been appointed its chief executive officer. He succeeds Michael Behrendt, who
left the company June 30, as did Chief Operating Officer Ulrich Kranich.
The new COO is Anthony Firmin. Peter Ganz continues as chief
The JaxPort Board of Directors has appointed new officers for one-year terms. John Falconetti, president at The Drummond Press Inc., will serve as chairman; John Allen Newman, senior pastor at The Sanctuary at Mt. Calvary, is the new vice chairman; and Robert Spohrer, president at Spohrer & Dodd, will serve as treasurer. Retired commercial real estate executive James Citrano joins the board leadership as secretary.
Port Everglades has named Jim Pyburn as director
of its Business Development Division. The 36-year industry veteran
comes to the port from Port Tampa Bay, where he was director of marketing
and business development for Latin America.
Sandler & Travis Trade Advisory Services has appointed Anu Gavini to
president and chief operating officer. Prior to joining the firm in
2000, she spent 11 years at Chrysler and became head of the Corporate
Customs group dealing with U.S. and other government customs agencies.
The Sustainable Shipping Initiative, a group of global shipping companies, has hired Alastair Fischbacher as director. Fischbacher, who has been serving on the group’s board of trustees, most recently worked at Rio Tinto as general manager of fleet management. In his new position, Fischbacher said he would be confronting “key sustainability barriers” and striving toward “greater opportunity for tomorrow’s shipping sectors.”
DVB Bank SE, which focuses on international transport financing, has named Felix Ulbricht to the top position in the bank’s Container, Car Carrier, Intermodal & Ferry Group. Ulbricht most recently worked as the head of Deutsche Shipping Asia, where he had served since 2008.
Lars Ljoen was named vice president of cruise and roll-on/roll-off services for Ceres Terminals, based in East Brunswick, N.J. He joined the company in 2005 as vice president of business development in South Florida. Prior to that, he worked for Royal Caribbean International for eight years on the cruise vessels and shore-side.
