Authorities have reopened the Ambassador Bridge after the busiest international commercial truck crossing in North America connecting downtown Detroit with Windsor, Ontario, was shut down Monday evening for five hours because of a bomb scare, according to local news and wire service reports.
Canadian and U.S. officials said security teams with bomb-sniffing dogs searched the structure and found nothing suspicious.
The bridge closure followed a similar hoax last week involving the Detroit Windsor Tunnel.
During the investigation, traffic was diverted to the Detroit Windsor Tunnel and the Blue Water Bridge, which connects Port Huron and Canada about 50 miles north of Detroit.
The Ambassador Bridge is operated by the Detroit International Bridge Company, which is owned by "Matty" Maroun.
