ABS, a provider of classification services to the marine and offshore industry, has launched a new product suite aimed at improving transmission of its vessel classification data.
The ABS Connect system originally includes a new app and mobile Website, and hopes to add more in-depth information.
In London this morning, ABS Chief Technology Officer Todd Grove introduced the company’s new mobile Website
along with the ABS Bookshelf application. Bookshelf, available on Apple’s devices, is a mobile library of ABS publications including more than 100 rules and guides around design, construction and maintenance of vessels and offshore structures.
The mobile version of the ABS Website contains access to many of the same ABS publications and supports BlackBerry and Android devices.
Grove said the suite will soon include two new apps: ABS Survey Manager and ABS Directory. Survey Manager allows shipowners and managers to secure real-time information around an ABS-classed fleet, and then store this information on their mobiles. The ABS Directory provides contact details for ABS offices worldwide through direct search and GPS.
Both new apps will be available this summer.
